A Man on the street
with nothing to eat
sitting on his knees
with no one to please
hugs our 2 Lab pups
I buy him some sups
"disowned" at thirteen
parents; not since seen
jacket hangs off of him
fragile; beyond 'slim'
Granny died at ninety
loved unconditionally
looked after 22 dogs
love gives, death robs
who cares if Joe's hurt
why no loveless alert?
gave him grapes to eat
no teeth; good and sweet
we hugged before i left
boyish nature; not bereft
"What matters most?"
I asked our loving host
Of "Love," he did attest
'wise words' I know best!
